This magazine page & cover was designed to reinterpret modern-day figures in the distinct styles of renowned artists. These portraits serve as visual prompts to celebrate the diversity and evolution of portrait art.

Meet the Iconic Artist
Kahlo was a Mexican painter known for her many portraits, self-portraits, and works inspired by nature. Her interests in politics and art led her to met the artist Diego Rivera. During this time, she developed her artistic style and made many solo exhibitions internationally. Frida Kahlo's work has been celebrated internationally as emblematic of Mexican national and Indigenous traditions and by feminists.


Creative Process
This illustration series was created starting by analogue colored pencil sketches followed by a watercolor base layer. At this point the drawing was scanned, digitally painted and enhanced in Procreate.
